CAGE EXPLORATIONS

Langley starting exploring glassblowing techniques using wire cages in 2018. After a couple years of blowing glass into hand woven wire cages, Langley added the element of growing crystals on these objects. Some experiments involved growing crystals on the overall forms, while later experiments focused on the effect of the wire itself. These studies led to the creation of Thang #417 for an exhibition at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia in 2021.
